A member asked:

My child got bit by another kid at school, breaking the skin. what do i need to do about this, medically?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Human bites...: ...Can be significant, depending on how deeply he was bit and how "dirty" the other kid's mouth was. First, if he hasn't had a tetanus shot in the last 5 years, he needs one. Then the wound needs to be cleaned thoroughly and watched carefully for development of infection. I'd recommend getting your doctor involved early, so he or she can act quickly if an infection develops.
