See the surgeon: Post cholecystectomy pain is well known. But other complications can occur. When was surgery? What was done? Other studies. Be evaluated

Sphincter?: Spasm can occur at the entrance of common bile duct into duodenum, called sphincter of oddi dyskinesia. Prolonged spasm causes similar pain as gall bladder disease. Sometimes patients have to be scoped to make this diagnosis. Gastroenterolgist visualizes area and performs manometrics in adults.Rx available, stent, etc. In some hands hida scan can be very suggestive of this diagnosis.

Depends: How long ago was the surgery? Off and on for a few weeks after surgery, upper abdominal gas and pressure discomforts can occur after larger meals or fatty foods. If the surgery was a long time ago then see your doctor for an evaluation, as there may be something else causing pain such as gastritis, stomach ulcer, pancreatitis, etc.

Not unusual to have: Gallbladder colic type of pain for 4-8 weeks after removal, until your system gets accustomed to absence of gallbladder. If your pain persists beyond that, then it could be stones that were hidden in the common duct, or another cause of pain. So discuss with your surgeon if the pain persists.

Not unusual: To have typical gallbladder type of pain for 4 to 6 weeks after cholecystectomy, until your system gets accustomed to surgical absence of gallbladder. Your bile duct system needs to enlarge just a little to accommodate this absence. If it lasts more than a month or so after surgery, consult your surgeon who performed the operation.
