Decreased estrogen: hysterectomy, like aging, leaves us with decreased estrogen levels. Estrogen normally maintains the vaginal lining. With deceased estrogen, the lining is thin and prone to bleeding with any friction such as wiping or sexual intercourse. It can also cause burning on urination which many women confuse as urine infection.
