A member asked:

Xanax (alprazolam) vs anti-depressants for my social anxiety, which would you recommend?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Antidepressant: Antidepressant would be a better choice for the first attempt at treatment. They do not cause tolerance or withdrawal that can lead to dependence. Xanax (alprazolam) does have a higher risk for dependence. Xanax (alprazolam) can make you drowsy and many antidepressants on the market do not.
