Oral exam: The tonsils if not removed are easily recognized on oral examination. As one gets older then usually regress and are difficult to see- that is posterior and lateral to the tongue. If any question of pathology noted by your physician, a simple biopsy is used. Radiation virtually cures tonsil cancer.
