No quick answer...: If this is a long-term issue, then the answer to "why" may take quite some time to figure out. If emotions cause distress, psychotherapy is worth considering. It can help provide answers to why you respond the way you do, and in the long-term, can be more effective than meds. If your tears are due to a disorder like depression or bipolar, meds may be a recommended part of treatment.
