A member asked:

What stomach problems can be seen on a ct scan? if not with contrast can inside of the intestines be seen, or does a ct scan not show inside of organs

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ct scan: Generally a ct scan is not very effectice without contrast. There are 2 types IV and oral. Oral contrast will help define abnormalities inside the stomach and intestines such as tumors, ulcers and the like. Iv contrast is better to evaluate the liver kidneys internally. It should be noted that this is a generalization and that oral and IV contrast used together are complimentary.
