Many things: This sounds like it is corresponding to a nerve path. If so, it can be caused by any abnormality along the nerve. Old injuries, arthritis, bone spurs, etc could all cause this. If over-the-counter medications don't relieve the symptoms you may need to see your doctor and/or an orthopedic doctor.
