ABNORMAL THICKENING: Of the mitral valve with associated mitral valve prolapse. It's calcium buildup in the valve, stated simply. It might have been triggered by rheumatic fever or any other condition that would make the valve structurally abnormal. This condition is usually progressive and surgery may be necessary down the road. Close follow up is also important.
