A member asked:

Is it possible to have an over active and under active thyroid function?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Thyroid function: At any one time, your thyroid is either underactive, normal, or overactive. However, people with autoimmune thyroid disease (graves or hashimotos) or thyroiditis can go through phases where you are hyperthyroid for a while, and then become hypothyroid, or vise versa.
