More investigations: The fever could be caused by infections by viruses or bacteria but there also other causes. The antibiotics don't work on viruses so you wouldn't expect a response if they are the cause of the fever. The other reason could be that he has infection by a bacteria that is not responsive to the specific antibiotic he is on.
