What provocates this: Do you notice anything that provokes your cheeks to turn red? Many people experience this phenomenon when embarrassed or during temperature changes. Normally cheeks turn red because your blood vessels dilate. Purple cheeks are indicative of vessel spasm and lack of blood flow to your cheeks. This problem should abate with time. If you have pain or associated symptoms see your doctor.
