It depends: Usually people don't die acutely from thyroid disease and if it a cancer, it will cause problems for long time before one dies.If you have high or low thyroid hormone levels, the symptoms will be there for long time before you experience serious symptoms. High or low heart beats, constipation or diarrhea, skin changes and heat /cold intolerance are common symptoms. Weight gain/loss as well.
