Fiber!: Everyone has hemorrhoids (they are veins) however, some more bothersome. Avoid constipation! there are many fiber supplements i.e. Metamucil which can be taken daily and help with constipation. You can also find topical over the counter preparations to help with symptoms. The only rapid cure is surgery, but it is well worth trying to adress constipation first.

Agree w Dr. Hall.: Not fast- but good approach is to it is try not to get hemorrhoids in the first place. Stay well hydrated (at least 8 - 8 ounces glasses of water per day). Try to get in 5 servings of vegetables and 4 servings of fruit per day – get that fiber in. Stay physically active with regular exercise. There are a number of over the counter laxatives that can be taken orally to help pass retained feces.
