A member asked:

Am 6 weeks pregnant. for what complications or reasons should a pregnant woman not take a flight?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

OK to Fly: It's generally ok to fly during early pregnancy as long as you are otherwise healthy. Flying will increase your chances of having blood clots in the legs (dvt or deep vein thrombosis) that can potentially be fatal if the go to the lungs. Pregnancy also increases the risk for dvt, so be cautious about preventing these, and consult with your ob/gyn about options for prevention.
