Depends: Ovulation is often accompanied by a pain that could last several hours called "mittelschmerz". It actually is caused by the leak of fluid when an egg is released, so it is sort of like a cyst. However, pain that lasts is more likely to be something else, possibly a cyst, pregnancy, or even appendicitis.

Can't tell: This isn't specific enough to say: could be from either, could be appendicitis, could be something else. If it persists or worsens see a doctor soon.
