A member asked:

Ferritin level of 5.5 in a 20 year old woman, should i be concerned?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very: Iron deficiency is always a cause for serious concern. I trust the units are ng/mL. You need to talk with your physician about why you are iron deficient (diet, monthly loss, possible other illness) and make whatever changes are required to correct this. You'll feel much better even if you are not yet anemic. Best wishes.
