Why do you think you: might have brain damage? Smoking, in general, does NOT cause brain damage. In people with very severe COPD, chronically low oxygen levels can have impact on CNS function, but that is extremely rare. Heavy smokers are often heavy drinkers, and alcohol CAN cause damage to the CNS, including chronic organic brain syndromes. This is not seen in smokers, however, who do not drink alcohol.

It doesnt do that: Unless you have very severe lung disease and continue to smoke, smoking does not cause brain damage. In people with chronically low oxygen levels who continue to smoke, there may be more of a risk.
