how is hpv human papillomavirus tested?

1 doctor answer
Dr. Henry Garcia
8 years experience Obstetrics and Gynecology
Pap smear: Hpv is tested by obtaining an endocervical sample with a cervical brush and sending it in a special hpv transport media. Most physicians use liquid based cytology sampling and have both pap smear and hpv testing performed at the same time.
