Diabetes: The most important thing with Diabetes is to tightly control your blood glucose. There are many natural and prescription medications out there, but the disease will slowly take its toll on your body, even under good control, eventually. I encourage you to NOT make decisions about your medication regimen, and to see an Endocrinologist for control of your diabetes, or you may suffer consequences!

Diet/Exercise: Please talk to your physician or diabetic educator to develop a treatment plan and let them know you are wanting to look for non-medication treatments. Having said that, the main thing that has caused patients of mine to get off of their diabetic meds is weight loss, exercise, and eating a low-sugar/carb healthy diet. I know that's not easy, but it can make the progression of the disease slow.

Nope: no. There is no clinical effect from taking bitter melon that would be so pronounced as to negate the need for metformin or januvia (sitagliptin). Both metformin and Januvia (sitagliptin) are however great medications which in combination with a controlled carbohydrate diet work extremely well.
