A member asked:

I was just wondering why does cold weather make my stretched ears swell?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Vasodilation: This is a very interesting question. I'm not sure I have a complete answer. when your skin gets cold, initially it will increase the blood flow to that area. example, red cheeks. with the tissue being stretched out, the increased blood flow the tissue will appear more swollen than a regular ear. again, I'm not sure if this is completely accurate but it makes the most physiological sense.
