A member asked:

Why do a lot of doctors brush off natural treatments?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Limited use: "Natural" remedies are primarily supportive and are best used as adjuncts to the power surgical and medical treatments that today's science offers. The ones that work best -- digitalis, atropine, melatonin, St. John's wort, the nutrients that correct specific deficiencies -- became mainstream when their power was apparent. Go to an old graveyard and see how long folks lived on just "natural" Rx's.
