It tastes good: Are you perhaps iron deficient? Such changes as the desire for red meat and liking to chew ice cubes precede the actual anemia -- I learned this from my experience as a zealous blood donor.

No.: Sometimes the body craves things that might fill a deficiency so that iron deficiency or anemia might be one suspect, but i wouldn't bet on it. The brain controls your appetite ( and cravings) more than any physical process. To ally your fears though, there is no specific disease like that.
