Azithromycin: Azithromycin is widely available by prescription only. Any pharmacy should be able to fill your prescription. It's available in 250 mg tablets and in a oral suspension for patients who cannot swallow tablets. For hospital use, it is also available as a 500 mg I.V. injection. The brand name is Zithromax or Z-Pak. The generic azithromycin is just as good and is lower in cost.
