Need more info: Depending on when your last pap was and if you ever have had any abnormal pap smears, you may need one. If they have all been normal (or negative) you only need it every 3-5 years depending on which version your doc sends.

No: A pap smear is used to look for precancerous cells of the cervix before they become a problem. Your first pregnancy visit may be a good time to get one if you need it.

Age 21.: The most recent recommendations are that women should start getting a pap smear at age 21. You can have a pap smear every other year in your 20's if they are normal. Starting at age 30, you can have a pap and a test for hpv. Hpv is the virus that causes most cervical cancers. If your pap and hpv test are both negative, you can have your next pap smear in three years.

Depends on her age: Current guidelines recommend that women get their first pap at the age of 21, even if they are sexually active prior to that. Exceptions (where it should be obtained before 21) are if the female is HIV positive, or on chronic immunosuppressive therapy for systemic lupus erythematosus (sle, lupus) or after organ transplantation.
