Ativan (lorazepam): It helps symptoms, but medications by themselves do not treat the cause or triggers for anxiety. You need in addition to medications, Psychotherapy.

In the short term...: Lorazepam is from a family of drugs called Benzodiazepines. These can be very effective at taking away the unpleasant feeling of anxiety but do not address underlying causes. They can lead to addiction problems so most GPs will only prescribe them for short term use, if at all. Review with your GP, perhaps another medication is required, or check out https://depression.org.nz/get-better/
