A member asked:

Mild chest pain few times & less than 1min.normal ecg but chest x-ray had some widening of right superior mediastinum. dr asked for ct. should i getct

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes definitely.: A widened right paratracheal stripe region (right superior mediastinum) on a frontal view chest xray can be of no significance or serious. In obese people there can be extra fat in the mediastinum causing this xray finding and is of no significance. Enlarged blood vessels known as aneurysms, enlarged lymph nodes from benign or malignant causes, and tumors can also cause this finding. Ct is best.
