Metronidazole: Metronidazole is the recommended treatment for trichomonas infection. Doxycycline is not recommended for this infection.

Not recommended: Trichomoniasis can be treated w one or multiple oral doses of metronidazole or tinidazole. These are antibiotics which your doctor can order. Metronidazole is 90 to 95% effective and tinidazole is 86 to 100% effective.
