A member asked:

What could make you have a throbing pain above your kidney?

Various Things: Kidney pain is very rare unless there is something causing inflammation and/or irritation or something causing the tight capsule around your kidney to stretch. Infection (pyelonephritis) can cause pain. Cysts in the kidney that are large or enlarging can cause pain. You could also consider something going on with your adrenal gland because they sit atop the kidneys.

Muscular pain: Nephrogenic pain, though possible, is not likely.
