Constipation: If you have an urge to move your bowels and can't, you should try working from below rather than take more laxatives. Try gylcerin rectal suppositories, dulcolax rectal suppositories or a gentle enema. If you have no urge, try a gentle stimulant like senokot (senna). If you still can't have a bm, you need to be checked for impaction or other blockage. Abdominal pain and vomiting would make an exam urgent.
