Many reasons: Could be bad dreams. It could be something called night terrors; if he doesn't seem to know what's going on around him and he has no memory of the event in the morning, it might be this. Or maybe the room is cold. In any case, it's not likely to go on very long, and if it does, you should speak to your pediatrician about it.
