A member asked:

Neurologist suggested mental health, im more than depressed wouldn't neuropsychiatric be much better for me? is that just a 1 time thing to see one?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mental health issue: I think you are confused about what neuropsychologists and neuropsychiatrists do. They do not treat depression, severe or otherwise. The treatment for depression is psychotherapy, or psychotherapy + antidepressant medication. See a psychologist or psychiatrist who treats depression and can provide psychotherapy. Your neurologist gave you good advice-- unclear why you seem reluctant to accept it.
