A member asked:

I have read that postnatal rubella vaccination in combination with nursing can lead to an 80% chance of autism. is this true?

20 doctors weighed in across 4 answers

Absolutely not: There is absolutely no evidence of any link between rubella vaccination at any time and the development of autism. Multiple studies have shown no association between the two. The myth of rubella (or mmr) vaccine being associated with autism was based on the discredited work of dr wakefield. Postnatal rubella vaccination for non immune mothers can prevent congenital rubella in subsequent children.

No, ma'am. Genetic: or epigenetic factors that alter fetal brain development as early as 3 weeks after conception till term or viral illnesses like the flu or rubella especially during the 1st or 2nd trimester ^ risk of Autistic Spectrum Disorder in offspring. Attenuated rubella virus theoretically may pass through breast milk, but usually causes no infection in the infant. If it does, the infection is very mild.
