Meniscus tear?: Your symptoms of pain w/ squatting , twisting and turning associated w/ swelling may indicate a meniscus( cartilage) tear. The meniscus can tear as we get older w/minimal trauma as the water content diminishes and it becomes more 'brittle' and less 'elastic '. See your board certified orthopedic surgeon for examination. Best of luck!
