Doctor can evaluate: A primary care doctor can evaluate to see what might be causing pain in the left lower abdomen. The large intestine has stool in that location, so constipation can cause pain there. Stomach flu or impending diarrhea can be a cause. In women, problems with a left ovary or fallopian tube can cause pain there. A doctor's evaluation is needed, because there are many possible causes for the pain.
