Will not hurt: There are certain foods that have been touted as good sleep aids and others that have aromatic properties that can be helpful. Lemon balm is one of the aromatic compounds. One thing is that it does not have negative effects for most people. However, consuming liquids before bedtime may not be optimal. Trial and error may be the key.

Also OK in day: Lemon balm has a calming effect and may help one to fall asleep more readily at nite when already tired. During the day it can ease anxiety but is not likely to make you sleepy. However, it depends on how much you ingest and some people are more sensitive to it than others so feel free to experiment and see how it affects you at different times of day.
