Do your doctor's bid: Simply follow pre-op instructions including not eating or drinking anything if that is part of their order set. Generally, any time you are having surgery done, endoscopic or not, restriction of food and beverage intake is mandatory. Have someone ready to drive you home if it's going to be an outpatient procedure. Good luck.

Take it easy: Try to take it easy and let the hand heal. The success rate is very high.

Speak to surgeon: Understand the risks & benefits, make sure you understand the alternatives to surgery, get your questions even the ones you don't think are important answered before the surgery, make sure you provide a full medical history. Understand the post operative protocol http://jeffreywintmd.blogspot.com/2014/09/informed-patient-tutorial-carpal-tunnel.html here is a good start but ask your surgeon.

Homework: do your homework! Make sure your doctor is board certified and has extensive experience with endoscopic technique and is at least an orthopedic surgeon and preferably a hand surgeon with a certificate in added qualification in hand . Most important though is his experience with endoscopic technique
