Loratadine usually: In a 2001 study in humans, loratadine was significantly better than chlorpheniramine in relieving allergic rhinitis symptoms with less drowsiness. Both were better than placebo (sugar pill). In the lab using rabbit trachea, the chlorpheniramine appeared to antagonize or suppress histamine effect just a little bit better than loratadine. For humans, go with loratadine.
