M.D. visit: Chest pain is most often attributable to muscular and skeletal inflammation. A heating pad and advil (ibuprofen) usually help to relieve the symptoms. If you have a history of medical problems, including obesity, cardiac disease, diabetes for example, this will increase the likelihood that a cardiac or pulmonary problem is causing the pain. It is best to see your physician if the pain persists.
