Unusual: Opiates all cause constipation, and generally when they are stopped, people get diarrhea. Are you having any abdominal pain or cramping? If so, see your doctor immediately. If just constipated without pain/cramps, then I would first try a stool softener like Colace or Surfak twice a day, add milk of magnesia 2 TBLSP at night. If no results, an ounce of Miralax (polyethylene glycol) should do it.

Constipation: Usually it is the other way around as opiates cause constipation. If you have stopped it, and still have constipation, see your physician for evaluation. ON your own, you can try having fiber with plenty of water, prune juice etc Even milder laxatives might help.

Unusual: Most people get constipated from hydrocodone itself, and often get diarrhea when stopping. I recommend my patients start with something mild like a stool softener (dulcolax tabs - colace or surfak) one tab twice a day, then use a mild laxative like milk of magnesia 2 tblsp at night. If that doesn't work, senna-based laxatives, magnesium citrate or MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) would be next best step.
