Could gerd cause swallowing problems?

Yes: Although gerd most commonly presents with hearburn and regurgitation, some patients will experience pain, difficulty swallowing, and pain with swallowing. Longstanding gerd may cause erosions or narrowing of the esophagus. These symptoms should be evaluated by a physician and may require further diagnostic testing.

Yes: Depending on the amount and the chronicity, gerd has been known to cause damage to the upper airway and upper esophageal structures which contributing to swallowing difficulties.
