Yes: Yes, depression can cause many physical symptoms including poor appetite resulting in weight loss. Also there may be poor sleep, low energy, and loss of interest in activities that were previously enjoyed. If you've stopped eating, please see your physician -- many other causes are also possible for this symptom and your doctor can help you.

Agree w Dr. Pappas: Decreased appetite with weight loss or increased appetite with weight gain are both possible symptoms of depression.
