Local PM;R doc: Seek out a local pm;r doctor. Without more detail it's impossible to tell for sure, but this is likely not a surgical issue. Pain at the level of the scapula could be muscle pain in the rhomboids or thoracic paraspinal muscles. Interspinous ligament sprain. Fixated thoracic facet joints (a chiropractic issue). Numerous other possibilities too. Trigger point injections may help. Pt maybe.

Could be a number : Of things and only a physical exam and imaging could say for sure. However, this is a common place to have rhomboid spasms. See http://www.Livestrong.Com/article/359550-stretches-for-rhomboids/ perform these stretches to see if they help. See a doc if no improvement. Best of luck!
