A member asked:

Ativan (lorazepam) and hyrdoxyzine together okay?

2 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

No too much sedation: Ativan is a tranquilizer used short term or occasionally for anxiety. Hydroxyzine is used for itching and can also be used as a tranquilizer. Both medications cause drowsiness and should not be used together. An alternative to Hydroxyzine for itching would be an over the counter antihistamine that does not cause sedation such as Claritin (loratadine) or allegra.
