Compression: Compression is best initial treatment. Ultrasound will be needed to identify the severity and location of disease. Best long-term treatment is to ablate the veins if possible. Laser or radiofrequency can be used to accomplish this.

Varicose veins: There is not really a single "best" treatment, as treatments are tailored to your specific anatomy. Ultrasound is needed. The most common treatments are endovenous ablation with laser or radiofrequency energy, stab phlebectomies, and sclerotherapy. Often a combination of therapies is needed. Vascular surgeons are considered the "vein experts" as they can offer all possible treatment options.
