Healthy foods: Whole, healthy foods may help depression. Diets consisting of highly processed, trans-fat laden foods may predispose to depression. Eat meals with many-colored vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats -- especially omega-3's. Avoid alcohol in all forms. Caffeine in limited quantities may be okay, but it can increase cortisol and eventually risk more depression.
