Better Safe/Sorry: If you think it may be an allergic reaction, simply do not use it again. It is not worth trying again to find out. You can substitute warm salt water in its place. Be sure to mention this to the dentist who prescribed it for future reference.

It could be...: It could be an allergic reaction, merely irritation from the the mouthwash or something totally unrelated. Stop using it, notify the dentist and ask for advice what to do from here on.

Possible: Some mouthwash contains alcohol which makes your mouth drier and irritated. It is also possible that you may have developed an allergic reaction to one of its ingredients. What is the brand you have been using? Biotene is often recommended for dry mouth.
