Fontanelle closure: The anterior fontanelle is the last one to close. Five months is early, assuming you are right. The best thing for you to do is to have your baby examined by your paedeatrician.

Depends on variables: The size of this fontanel can vary from the size of a pea to a grapefruit or larger. What matters more is the growth of babies head. If it is increasing at a normal rate month to month (charts are available) this is just a curiosity, if the head growth has slowed or the shape altered, it is time for your doc to do some tests.
