Cough: There are many reasons for a new onset of cough. The most common is a viral upper respiratory tract infection. When symptoms stay the same or get worse over a period of more than 10-14 days it is time to think about a possible bacterial infection. Pneumonia is one possibility but there are also other type of conditions that can cause symptoms. Another possibility is pertussis. Get checked asap.
