Fever in 8 month old: Have this baby seen by a pediatrician. Fever in a child this age should be professionally evaluated. Hope this turns out to be nothing severe.

Not associated: I can not put the fall together with anything that would cause fever. I would look to this as sign of a new illness and discuss his symptoms with his doc.
